Two matches in one day appeared to be no problem for world No. 2 Iga Swiatek, who won twice Saturday as a rainout the previous day forced both the quarterfinals and the semifinals of the Korea Open to be played just hours apart.
In what had been expected to be a highly competitive match, Swiatek dominated Barbora Krejcikova in their quarterfinal match to start the day in Seoul, South Korea. She advanced with a 6-0, 6-3 win in 83 minutes.
The 24-year-old from Poland similarly dismissed her semifinal opponent, Australian teenager Maya Joint, with a 6-0, 6-2 win that barely took an hour. Joint had upset No. 3 seed Clara Tauson of Denmark in the quarterfinals earlier in the day, 6-0, 6-3.
Swiatek, a six-time Grand Slam champion, will face the No. 2 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia in the final.
Alexandrova notched a 6-2, 6-3 win over German Ella Seidel in the rescheduled quarterfinal match that featured nine breaks of serve, including six in the opening set. Alexandrova came out on top by saving eight of the 11 break points she faced, while Seidel saved just four of 10.
Alexandrova then handed a 6-4, 6-2 defeat to Czech Katerina Siniakova, who had reached the semfinals by hanging on for a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Suzan Lamens of the Netherlands earlier Saturday.
It will be Swiatek's first Korea Open final. Alexandrova won the event over top seed Jelena Ostapenko in 2022.
