China's 19-year-old archer Zhu Jingyi claimed a silver medal after falling to South Korea's Kang Chae-young in the women's recurve final at the 2025 World Archery Championships in Gwangju on Sept. 12, securing China's only medal at the tournament.
Debutante Zhu impressed from the start, finishing second in the qualification round with 691 points, just one point behind Tokyo Olympic champion An San of South Korea. She went on to defeat Indonesia's Diananda Choirunisa 6-4 in the semifinals to reach the title match, where Kang ultimately prevailed 7-3 to clinch the gold on home soil.
China's other two archers, Huang Yuwei and Li Jiaman, were both eliminated by An, who finished third.

Chinese 10m air pistol shooter Hu Kai won both individual and mixed team gold as China tops the medal tally with two golds, four silvers and one bronze at the ISSF World Cup in Ningbo, eastern China's Zhejiang Province as of Sept. 13.
Hu, 23, partnered Yao Qianxun to take the opening victory on Sept. 9 before adding an individual gold in men's event on the following day. This win continued his unbeaten run in 2025 across four ISSF World Cup events. Yao later added a silver in women's 10m air pistol.
Olympic champion Sheng Lihao and 16-year-old Peng Xinlu set a new qualification world record of 635.9 points in 10m air rifle mixed team but fell short in the gold medal match. Sheng saw his own world record in the men's event shattered by Danilo Dennis Sollazzo of Italy, who edged him for the victory with 255 points on Sept. 11.

Chinese athletes claimed four victories out of 14 events at the 2025 World Athletics Continental Tour in Beijing on Sept. 7, with youth talent Yan Ziyi claiming the women's javelin with 64.46 meters.
