Following weeks of elimination-free competition, there was an elimination for the second straight day at the League of Legends Championship of The Americas North Split 3 in Los Angeles on Sunday.
After finishing the pick-and-play phase tied for seventh place out of eight teams, 100 Thieves kept its run alive by defeating LYON 3-1 to advance into the lower-bracket quarterfinals.
100 Thieves opened up an early 2-0 lead in Sunday's match with a pair of wins on red in 43 and 29 minutes. LYON put up a fight with a 30-minute win on blue in Game 3, but 100 Thieves clinched the match with a 36-minute victory on blue.
Victor 'FBI' Huang of Australia led 100 Thieves with 24 kills while Bill 'Eyla' Nguyen of Australia managed just two kills but led all players with 53 assists.
South Korea's Park 'Hena' Jeung-hwan led LYON with 17 kills in a losing effort.
100 Thieves will next face Team Liquid, which finished the pick-and-play phase in fourth place with a 1-2 match record and a minus-one game differential, on Aug. 30 for a spot in the lower bracket semifinal.
The other lower-bracket quarterfinal will be contested on Aug. 29 and will see Disguised, which eliminated Dignitas on Saturday, face off against Cloud9, which finished the pick-and-play phase tied atop the standings but lost its upper bracket semifinal to Shopify Rebellion on Aug. 16.
Weeks 6-7 are also best-of-five, with the lower bracket quarters taking place next Friday and Saturday, and the upper bracket final slated for Aug. 31. The top three teams qualify for the LTA Championship, and the winner qualifies for the 2025 World Championship.
