ABU DHABI, 28th April, 2025 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the "Mother of the Nation," Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), today received Sam Mostyn, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, at Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima warmly welcomed the Governor-General, expressing her pleasure at this visit, which, she said, reflects the depth of the relations between the United Arab Emirates and Australia. H.H. Sheikha Fatima affirmed that the visit represents an opportunity to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially concerning childhood, women, and community service.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise and experiences between relevant institutions in the fields of women's and children's affairs in both friendly countries. They emphasised the importance of building partnerships that contribute to achieving sustainable community development.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima also highlighted the remarkable progress and achievements of Emirati women, emphasising their demonstrated ability to excel and distinguish themselves across a wide range of sectors. She affirmed that by seizing the opportunities afforded to them, Emirati women have become integral contributors to the nation's development and to the enhancement of its international stature.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima added that the empowerment of Emirati women has witnessed significant advancement across various fields, making them active partners in the country's ongoing development and progress.
For her part, Sam Mostyn expressed her admiration for the comprehensive renaissance taking place in the United Arab Emirates, particularly in the field of women's empowerment.
She praised the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak in supporting and empowering Emirati women, pointing out the importance of Her Highness's initiatives in the fields of community service, family welfare, and childhood care, both in the UAE and in other parts of the world.
The meeting was attended by several Sheikhas and members of the delegation accompanying the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.
