SYDNEY, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chevron Australia confirmed on Monday that its Wheatstone liquid natural gas (LNG) facility in Western Australia has recovered to full production despite a fault last week.
"Chevron Australia confirms full production resumed last night at the Wheatstone Gas Facility following a fault on Sept.14. During this time, LNG continued to be produced at approximately 80 percent of usual rates, and vessel loading continued," a spokesperson from the company said in a statement.
According to the statement, there has been no change to scheduled LNG deliveries, with domestic gas facilities and supply unaffected.
The spokesperson made no comments on the 24-hour strikes during the weekend which broke out at Chevron's Gorgon, Wheatstone Downstream and Wheatstone Platform.
At 8:00 a.m. local time on Saturday, Offshore Alliance, a union representing workers in oil and gas industries, announced on its social media that union members would lock down all three West Coast facilities for the next 24 hours.
"Wheatstone Downstream has lost 25 percent of its production since midday Thursday due to the incompetence of Chevron's BCP workforce and there is every likelihood that production on the Gorgon facility will be significantly impacted over the weekend," said the union.
Since Sept. 8, the union has carried out its industrial action against Chevron, as both sides failed to reach an agreement over several matters, including job security, agreed rosters, transfers to other Chevron worksites, the working of overcycle, training standards, travel arrangements and rates of pay.
After six days of limited action, Offshore Alliance elevated the strikes to rolling 24-hour stoppages, each day for 14 days from Sept. 14.
